Assembling Your Spec Clone Engine - Part 1

Some assembly is required for the NYKA Certified Spec Clone Engine.


To start remove the flywheel fan housing.


Next remove the spark plug and the valve cover.
Mark the valve cover as shown... this is where we will drill and tap for the pulse line fitting.


Photo shows the crankshaft flywheel side.
The keyway is where we will put the flywheel key.

Align the key slot in the flywheel with the key in the crankshaft and slide it on.


Next install the fan onto the flywheel...


Recoil starter cup next.... then the nut (not shown).


Use the steel rod that comes with the spark plug tool,
place it through the slot in the backing plate as shown locking the flywheel for tightening.


Next install the ignition coil so it is as far from the flywheel as possible.
Note the slots in the coil.


Rotate the flywheel so the magnet is under the coil.
Place a feeler gauge or appropriate thickness shim (.020 - .025) between the coil
and the flywheel magnet... loosen coil screws so the coil is drawn onto the magnet.
Push the coil against the magnet and tighten coil screws.
